• Lomi lomi is a traditional Hawaiian style of bodywork that goes far beyond massage. Rooted in the spirit of Aloha—compassion, presence, and connection—it supports balance in the body, mind, and nervous system.

Rather than focusing on a single area, Lomi lomi approaches the body as a connected whole. Long, flowing, wave-like strokes move across the body like the rhythm of the ocean, helping muscles soften, circulation improve, and the nervous system settle into deep rest.

At its heart, Lomi lomi is more than a technique—it is a healing art offered with presence, intention, and respect. Each session creates a safe and nurturing space where the body can release tension, unwind held patterns, and reconnect with its natural state of balance.

  • My Lomi lomi journey began through training in Sacred Lomi® with Tom Cochran, a modern expression of Temple Style Lomi Lomi rooted in the teachings of Kahu Abraham Kawaiʻi. I honor this lineage with gratitude while also recognizing the ways my practice has grown through continued study, personal experience, and years of offering bodywork to clients, family, and friends.

I approach Lomi lomi with reverence for its lineage and deep respect for each client’s unique healing journey. My style blends Hawaiian principles with intuitive, nurturing touch—creating a safe and supportive space where you can return to presence, experience renewal, and reconnect with yourself.

  • In traditional Hawaiian culture, Lomi lomi was practiced within families and communities as part of a holistic approach to health and well-being. Skilled practitioners, sometimes known as kahuna, were respected members of their communities who carried deep knowledge of healing traditions.

This work was never only about physical touch. Lomi lomi was often offered in a spirit of care, connection, and responsibility for the well-being of others.

An important aspect of Lomi lomi is the Spirit of Aloha, which embodies love, compassion, harmony, and respect. Practitioners aim to express these qualities through their presence and touch, creating an environment where the body can relax and restore balance.

Traditionally, Lomi lomi knowledge was passed down through families and close communities, shared from generation to generation. This lineage of learning and relationship gives the practice a rich cultural depth and meaning.

Today, Lomi lomi is practiced and taught around the world. Anyone with a genuine interest and an open heart can learn this work, and those who choose to practice it are encouraged to approach it with humility, gratitude, and respect for the culture from which it comes.

  • Lomi lomi is more than massage. It is a flowing, heart-centered practice rooted in the Hawaiian tradition of Aloha—presence, compassion, and connection. Each session invites the body, mind, and spirit to soften, release, and renew.

    You may experience:

    • Deep relaxation — allowing the nervous system to shift out of stress and into rest.

    • Improved circulation and flow — supporting the natural movement of blood and lymph throughout the body.

    • Release of tension — easing tightness in muscles and fascia so the body can feel lighter and more free.

    • Emotional clearing — creating space for feelings that may be held in the body to gently surface and release.

    • A sense of being held — continuous, wave-like strokes create a feeling of comfort and ease, often compared to the rhythm of the ocean.

    • Reconnection with self — returning to a place of balance, presence, and inner awareness.

    • Renewal of spirit — supporting a sense of clearing and opening to new possibilities.

    • Living Aloha — a reminder that healing can extend beyond the body to the heart, relationships, and the way we move through the world.

  • Each session begins with a few moments to arrive and connect.

We’ll start with a brief conversation about your needs, intentions, and anything that feels important to share that day. This time helps me understand how best to support you and allows your body and mind to begin softening before we begin.

I’ll explain anything you need to know about the flow of the work, including body positioning and what makes this style of massage unique. Oil is applied to support smooth, flowing strokes that travel across the body, often using the forearms as well as the hands.

The session is offered mostly in quiet, with only gentle guidance or reflection as needed. You may hear a rhythmic Ha breath throughout. This breath helps keep both practitioner and client grounded, centered, and connected.

Lomi lomi often reaches beyond the physical, touching the emotional and spiritual layers of being. Some clients experience laughter, tears, or waves of release, while others sink into deep stillness and rest.

There’s no need to hold back or make anything happen. Whatever arises is welcomed in a safe, compassionate, and non-judgmental space.

The experience unfolds naturally, guided by what your body needs in the moment.
